In the words of the composer: "In order to get the right feel to this piece, the pianist should put fire ants (or some local variant) in his/her pants. The amount of ants is left for the player's discretion, but the practical minimum is about ten tablespoons. No scratching, and the said pants must be kept on until the piece is finished. "
