A road thro Buchan was made straight
An mony a Hielan' lad o' maucht
Cam owre the Buchan border.

There was some in tartan, some in blue
An wekits o' a warlike hue
An werena they a strappin crew
To put the road in order.

I fear puir man he's gotten the loss
