About 'Chaconne in D minor from Partita no.2 for solo Violin BWN 1004 (complete)'

Born:
21 March 1685 , Eisenach
Died:
28 July 1750 , Leipzig
The Artist:
One of the greatest composers of all time. Bach wrote hundreds of pieces for organ, choir, as well as many other instruments. He spent most of his life as a church organist and a choir director. His music combines profound expression with clever musico-mathematical feats, like fugues and canons in which the same melody is played against itself in various ways.
Composed:
unknown
Info:
One of Bach's most famously challenging pieces, described by violinist Issac Stern as
"one of the crowning achievements of Man in music". The Chaconne in D minor is a series of 31 variations on a simple chordal theme. The piece lasts 15 minutes and encompasses a huge range of expression and technique, including a blistering double-stopped arpeggio variation which rivals the Paganini Caprices in its technical difficulty.
