I shall not put up a list, as so many others have done before.

I`ll express my opinion as simple as this:
If you care about quality and those more or less small details that makes a song great, listen to the good oldies, as there are rarely any good new bands worth listening to. Just try to notice things like variety in drum-, guitar and bassriffs, solos, etc. For good, quality music, listen to bands like Led Zeppelin(above all), The Doors, Dire Straits, Yes, Deep Purple, The Beatles, The Who, etc.
If not, continue listening to Green Day, and all that other crap out there (ofcourse, there are some pearls among the new ones, like Nirvana and Guns n` Roses, so don`t lose faith completely)
